Synopsis
On Creep's Cove, monsters have made a community with homes, shops and a school, alongside doorways into frightening alternative dimensions. Stubtoe Elementary introduces the children growing up there. Their classmates include Vlad, a vampire keen on fame; Allie, an alien who takes stuffed toys apart; and Lizzie, a kaiju with a quick temper. The book explores these pupils through several kinds of storytelling rather than one continuous block of prose. Chapters sit beside comics, poems, charts and activities, with different sections introducing different spooky characters. Vampires, mummies and other creatures become schoolchildren with personalities and everyday lives of their own.
