Synopsis

Mayowa has questions about Grandpa Edward, especially his green beard and his habit of secretly jumping on books. Trying it herself reveals a family gift: she can release a story's emotions and make other people feel them. Books suddenly offer a way to influence events far beyond their pages. When Mayowa sees a chance to help refugees whose lives are at risk, she is eager to put that gift to work. But other people share her ability, and their intentions are very different. Learning what book-jumping can do also means discovering how dangerous it becomes in the wrong hands.
