Kings, donkeys, roosters and ordinary people face tests of wit, generosity and folly in twenty tales gathered by Iraqi storyteller Rodaan Al Galidi. The stories have travelled across Europe, Asia and Africa; this collection presents them as the Arabic tales he learned in Iraq, translated into English by Laura Watkinson and illustrated in cut paper by Geertje Aalders.
